The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open for the season Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm and Wednesdays from 1 to 6 pm.  The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.

The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is held Saturdays from 8:30 am to 11 am and Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm in the Wright Pavilion in McMillan Park.

On the last day of the Louisa County Fair….9:00am Livestock Sale,  7:00pm Demo Derby

Winfield Fire Rescue is having a 100 Years of Service Celebration at the Twin Lakes Golf Course.  There will be several events starting at 1 pm and it will go into the evening; including a golf tournament, a bags tournament, dinner and live music.  See the event on Facebook here for more information!

Rome Days kicks off at 11 am in the Rome Park. There will be a Car Show, Kids Pedal pull, Bouncy House.  The Bags Tournament starts at 12pm. There will be a FREE WILL DONATION LUNCH AND SUPPER, starting at 11am and 4:30pm Live entertainment starting at 4:30 “Elvis” Junior Talley then at 7pm Aces & Eights band.

The Henry County Heritage Trust invites everyone to “Glider Infantryman – WWII” – A Presentation by Kevin Brooks at 2:00 pm at theHenry County Heritage Center Museum, 403 West Madison Street, Mount Pleasant. This is a free program but donations are appreciated. Refreshments will be served.

Downtown After Sundown returns to Bonaparte. The Bonaparte United Church is hosting an ice cream social from 4 to 8 pm including Maid Rites, all homemade food.  The street dance starts at 5 pm with a band. There will be a beer garden, corn hole games, Bingo, inflatables, hot rocks and the giant chalk drawing event.  The business will also be open late for evening shopping.

The Brinton Film Festival, Iowa’s longest-running film festival, will be held at the Ainsworth Opera House at 7 pm. Historian Michael Zahs will be showing Brinton films and magic lantern slides.

The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra will present its Symphonic Blast concert at the bandshell in Crapo Park in Burlington at 8:00 PM. This is a previously postponed concert. There will be an amazing fireworks display by J & M Displays. Admission is free. Bring your lawn chair or blanket.
