The Van Buren County Fair Beef Show starts at 8 am.  The Open Goat Points Chase Show is at 1:30 pm.  The Rabbit show is at 2 pm. The Van Buren County Cattlemen are serving at meal from 6 to 7 pm and the draft horse and mule farm team challenge is at 6 pm.

The Louisa County Fair begins with 9:00am Conference Judging of 4-H Static Exhibits  and at 10:30am Clover Kids Exhibit Talks/Interviews begin.

The Henry County Fair Horse Show will start at 9 am at the arena in McMillan Park. This had to be postponed from July 18.

The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open for the season Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm and Wednesdays from 1 to 6 pm.  The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.

The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is held Saturdays from 8:30 am to 11 pm and Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm in the Wright Pavilion in McMillan Park.

There is a Friends of Geode Meet and Greet today at the beach area at Geode State Park.  This runs from 10 am to 1 pm.  They will be offering a rod and reel combination with any $75 donation which includes a 1yr. membership or with a $250 lifetime membership you receive 4 rod and reel combinations. Quantities are limited!  They will also be offering two sizes of bodyboards and an inflatable pool chair deal for a $50 donation.

Henry County Conservation is hosting a free program featuring the Ax Women Loggers of Maine. This is an all-female team of Logging Sports athletes. They chop, they saw, they throw axes and logroll. This is a family friendly program at 10 at Waterworks Access and Campground boat ramp at Oakland Mills.  Bring your lawn chair or blanket. Water Works boat ramp will be closed from 6 a.m. till approximately 2 p.m. for this event.

U.S. Senator Joni Ernst will hold a town hall meeting in Keosauqua at 2:30 pm at Scheuermann’s Gym, 2423 Osage Avenue.

VFW Post 7641 in New London will serve a Steak & ham  dinner night  from 5:00-7:00. Dinners are served with baked potato, salad,& roll. Ribeye- $18, Ham- $10. These will be served every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, July-October.

Come to Salem for a Community Day fundraiser to restore the Park’s Gazebo and Stage.  There will be a car show from 5 to 9 pm. Food will be served and the BBQ cook off judging takes place at 5:30 pm.  There will be face painting and games for the kids until 9 pm.  Live music from 6 to 9 pm, a movie in the park at dark and silent auction through out the event.

Construction work on 170th Street east of Trenton in Henry County will begin Monday, July 26th. Portable traffic signals will be utilized, as traffic will be limited to one lane. Please travel this area with caution.
