There is a garage sale and a salvage sale to raise funds for the repair of the foundation of the Second Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant.  The garage sale will be held at 500 W. Monroe from 8 am to 1 pm. Food will be served at the garage sale. The Salvage Sale will be held from 8 am to 1 pm at the Church located at 407 W. Saunders Street.

The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open for the season Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm and Wednesdays from 1 to 6 pm.  The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.

The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is open from 8:30 to 11 am in the Wright Pavilion in McMillan Park.

Calvary Baptist Church hosts Calvary Kidventure today from 9 am to 2 pm at the church, 803 E. Mapleleaf Drive, Mount Pleasant.  This a free vacation bible school for kids age 4 thru 6th grade.

The West Point Sweet Corn Festival continues.  A 5k and 10k run begins at 8 am.  There is a horseshoe doubles contest.  There will be a carnival, arts and crafts in the park and free sweet corn served.  Bbq chicken dinners will be served from 11 am to 10 pm.  Pee Wee Drags start at 11 am.  Junior Water Fights are at 1 pm.  There is a corn hole tournament at 3:30.  Whiskey Friends perform from 7 to 10 pm.

New London VFW hosts a dinner tonight from 5 to 7:00 pm.  A ham steak dinner is $10 and ribeye steak is $18.  Dinner includes a baked potato, salad and a roll. Carry-outs may call 319-367-5009.
