Mt. Pleasant Historic Preservation Commission will continue their garage sale this week and next from 9am to 1pm both Friday & Saturday 500 W. Monroe. There will not be a salvage sale at the church, but they will have some salvage items at the garage sale.

The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open for the season Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm and Wednesdays from 1 to 6 pm.  The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.

The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is open from 8:30 to 11 am at the Orscheln parking lot.

The Villages of Van Buren host the 35th Annual Bike Van Buren.  Walk up registration takes place today and Sunday in the Keosauqua City Park from 7:00 to 8:30 am today and 7:30 to 8 am Sunday. Check out villagesofvanburen.com for details.

Main Street Mount Pleasant’s Sip and Shop is today.  Explore downtown’s shops and restaurants and shops.  There will also be pop-up vendors and samples.  The event is from 10 am to 3 pm.

Bring your kayak to Geode State Park and celebrate the re-opening of Lake Geode.  Friends of Geode want to get a picture of as many kayaks out on the lake as possible.  If you don’t have a kayak come anyway from 10 am to 1 pm and join the fun.

Henry County Heritage Trust Presents: PEOPLE IN THE PICTURES: STORIES FROM THE WETTACH FARM PHOTOS, a DVD program, shown courtesy of Iowa Public Television, at 2:00 p.m. at the Henry County Heritage Center Museum, 403 W. Madison St. Mount Pleasant. Hear the voices of “People in the Pictures” as they share their stories of life on the farm during the mid-20th century.Free will Donations Appreciated. Questions?? First Baptist Church has a fish fry today starting at 5:30 pm at the church on the lower floor.  They will be serving catfish fillets and all of the trimmings with delicious desserts.  This is by freewill offering to benefit missions around the world.  Everyone is welcome.
