Nathaniel Wenger, 19 year old son of Kevin & Dorthy Wenger of rural Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, will be speaking at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, 1209 Franklin Ave. l mile east & 1 mile south of Wayland, Iowa, on Sunday morning, July 31st. 10:00 AM.  His subject is “No Other Gospel” from 1 Cor. 1:18-25.

This is the final day to enjoy the wedding dress display at the Dover Museum in New London. The museum, located on Main Street, is open from 1 to 4 pm.  The exhibit is free and the museum is handicap accessible.

On July 31st, the Henry County Democrats will be hosting an ice cream social to including several of the Iowa Democratic Candidates for office and Deidre DeJear’s lieutenant governor Eric Van Lancker. The event will be held beginning at 1:00 PM in the Mt. Pleasant Square (Central Park). This will give citizens a chance to meet and talk with the candidates in addition to hearing them speak. Voter registration will also be available during the time. In addition to ice cream, water will be available. Children will also be able to participate in free face painting Everyone is invited to participate.

Players Workshop will kick off its 90^th year with open auditions for the popular musical Mamma Mia!, on Sun.-Tues., July 31-Aug 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Workshop, 1431 Grove St. The directors are looking for people ages 15-70, to fill 13 principal roles (6 female and 7 male), and a mixed ensemble of 12 or more people. Tryouts will include readings, songs, and choreography from the play, all of which will be provided by the directors, so those auditioning need not bring anything except their talent.

Green Mound Church is hosting an Ice Cream Social and Hymn Sing beginning at 6 p.m. Join them for a sweet time of homemade ice cream, and singing your favorite hymns.

Tuesday, August 2^nd the Henry County Treasurer’s Office will be closed.  Staff will be attending Iowa Department of Transportation Driver License and Motor Vehicle Training.  The office will be open for business at 8:00 AM Wednesday, August 3^rd.
