The Hillsboro Christian Church is having a Veterans Day Meal Sunday, November 13th. This is at 12pm at the Hillsboro Iowa Community Center.  Everyone is invited and a freewill donation will go to the Veterans Freedom Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

The New London VFW 7641 Auxiliary is hosting a Veteran’s Brunch, from 10am-1pm at the post home at 802 East McKinley. Breakfast and lunch items will be served. A free will donation will be taken and proceeds will benefit the new Burge Cemetery Veteran’s Memorial being constructed. The public is welcome for this time of celebrating our veterans with good food and fellowship.

Mount Pleasant High School Drama Department presents, “A Doll’s House” at 2 pm in the Heatilator Center in the Mount Pleasant Public Library Civic Center where City Hall is also located.

The Southeast Iowa Band will present their fall concert at 3:00pm in the Chapel Auditorium on the Iowa Wesleyan University campus.  The band is comprised of students and faculty of Iowa Wesleyan University as well as community members from throughout the Southeast Iowa region. The band is directed by Robert McConnell and Dr. Michael Knight.  Guest conductors for this concert will be Jilly Cooke and Jeremiah Carter.

The City of Mount Pleasant’s FREE LEAF COLLECTION is scheduled for the week of November 14th. All leaves must be bagged and placed at the curb on your designated trash day. Please separate bags of trash from bags of leaves.
This collection is open to all residents, so if your trash is picked up by a service other than the City and you do not know the day of City pickup in your neighborhood, you should call City Hall at 385-1470.
