Today is the deadline to register for Boys, Backwoods and Beer at the Oakland Mills Park.  Join this new men’s group for fellowship, education and beer. The next meeting is August 16 from 6 to 7:30 pm.  At that meeting participants will learn how ancient people crafted stone tools and weapons and will get to try spear throwing with an atatl. It’s free  but preregistration is due by 5 pm today via mycountyparks.com.

The West Point Sweet Corn Festival begins and runs thru Sunday.  From 5 to 10 pm enjoy the carnival, arts and crafts in the park, free sweet corn and bbq pork loin dinners.  The princess and queen interviews and coronations will take place from 6 to 7 pm followed by the Holy Trinity Dance Team performance.
