November 11th – Veterans Day

Mount Pleasant City Offices are closed in Observance of Veterans Day. Garbage collection will be one day later.

The Henry County offices at the Court House and the Henry County Conservation Office are closed due to Veterans Day.

Henry County Public Health will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. There will be no immunization clinic that day. Public Health will also be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th. Hy-Vee will serve up free breakfast for Veterans  and active duty military members from 6 am to 10 am.

WMU School will be continuing the tradition this year of hosting a Veteran’s Day assembly for students, local veterans and their families.  This year’s event will be held at 9:00 AM in the big gym. All local veterans and family members, as well as interested community members are encouraged to attend this meaningful event.  There will be light refreshments following the assembly for veterans and their families. The Avenue of Flags committee will coordinate a Veterans Day Observance at the Veterans Hall in Mount Pleasant in the Community Room at 10:30 am.

Iowa Wesleyan University will hold a Veteran’s Day service on Thursday, November 11 at 1:00 pm at the flag pole in the center of the campus. Everyone is welcome to join the service. If it rains, the service will be in the Social Hall.  The speaker is Staff Sergeant Cody Vantiger and Primae Voces will be singing.

The staff at Sunnybrook Mount Pleasant want to says thanks to current and retired service members of the military by offering a complimentary to-go lunch! Friends and family members who serve and have served are invited! Choice of Hamburger or Hot Dog, Chips, Coleslaw, and a goodie bag of sweets! Serving lunch from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM  through the circle drive.

 

The Kimzey Funeral Home sponsors “Worth the Sacrifice featuring Stanford Olsen” a Music and the Spoken Word radio special featuring the Tabernacle Choir.  It will air on 105.5 FM starting at 10 am.
