Families will also have the opportunity to learn more about community and school resources available in the area. The event is sponsored by Mt. Pleasant Hy-Vee\, ConAgra\, MPCSD PTA\, and First United Methodist Church. \nThe Galleries at Southeastern Community College will host “Artist Retrospect of Fifty Years\,” a retrospective exhibition featuring painter David Garrison\, at the Harry and Virginia Murray Art Gallery on March 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. A portrait workshop with the artist will follow on April 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; registration is $15 and required. \nFourth and fifth graders of the Winfield-Mt. Union Community School District will present a living history museum on Thursday\, March 5th\, in the WMU small gym. Families and community members are invited to take a walk through history. DESCRIPTION:The Henry County Ministerial Association is sponsoring the Way of the Cross\, a community Good Friday event on April 3rd at noon. The walk will begin at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and conclude at First United Methodist Church. This event is free and open to the public. \nDMC Regional Waste’s main drop-off location at 1000 West Washington Street in Mount Pleasant is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Residents can drop off recyclables and rechargeable batteries during these hours. \nMt. Pleasant City Offices are closed today.  The Children’s Discovery Center at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library is also closed for Good Friday. \nThe City of Mt. Pleasant curbside yard waste collection resumes today. Residents are reminded to contact City Hall by noon on the Thursday prior to their scheduled pickup to request service. For more information about the compost site\, and for curbside pickup requests\, contact City Hall at 319-385-1470. \nThe Fairfield Women’s Club will host their Annual Easter Bazaar on Friday\, April 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Historic McElhinny House in Fairfield. The event will feature frozen hamballs and chicken casseroles\, along with a bake sale offering cookies\, pies\, candies\, breads\, brownies\, and more. Shoppers can also find Easter baskets\, crafts\, and Women’s Club cookbooks available for purchase. Orders for hamballs or casseroles should be placed by Tuesday\, March 31st to guarantee availability. \nBabysitter Clinic will be held Friday\, April 3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Henry County Extension Office\, 127 North Main Street in Mount Pleasant. Designed for 6th through 8th grade students\, the clinic will cover child development\, nutrition\, activities for kids\, basic first aid and safety\, and the business side of babysitting. Cost is $25 per participant and space is limited to 15 students. Participants should bring a packed lunch and will receive a certificate of completion. This special Tenebrae service will feature a dimmed sanctuary and the gradual stripping of the space to symbolize grief and reflection\, along with special music from the church choir. All are welcome to attend.
