DESCRIPTION:The 5th Annual Donnellson Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk will take place beginning at the Donnellson Fire Department in Donnellson. Media check-in and availability begin at 7:00 a.m.\, followed by an opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m. featuring guest speaker Holly Benda. The race will start immediately following the ceremony and will include an Iowa State Patrol Honor Guard presentation\, an emergency personnel parade\, and a remembrance of eight military personnel lost in the past year. \nWayland Fourth of July Celebration brings a full day of community activities honoring our heroes. The Wayland Lions Club Breakfast is from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Community Center for a free-will donation. Parade lineup will take place from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.\, with the parade stepping off at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street\, rain or shine. National Anthem performance by Kari Hildebrand Brown. A free-will donation lunch hosted by the WACO basketball teams will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at WACO High School. Dine-in and carry-out options will be available. Additional activities include a Horseshoe Tournament at noon in the gravel lot by 4-M Plumbing & Heating and a Variety Show from noon to 1 p.m. at WACO High School featuring local performers\, comedy\, dance groups\, and Elvis tribute entertainment. Food vendors and mobile trucks will be available throughout the day on Main Street. The celebration concludes with fireworks at dusk at the WACO Football Field\, presented by the Wayland Volunteer Firefighters and sponsored by the City of Wayland and the Wayland Lions Club.
