The Mount Pleasant City Council will meet tonight, with potential action on a new trail project, playground equipment and the purchase of property along East Washington Street.
The council will consider two resolutions authorizing applications for Iowa Department of Transportation funding for construction of the Washington–Grand Connector Trail. One application would seek funding through the Federal Recreational Trails Program, while the other would be through the Statewide Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program.
Council members will also consider authorizing the mayor to sign a purchase agreement with M & K Investments LLC for property at 2235 East Washington Street, formerly known as Wiley’s Interior Furnishings and Design.
While it is not stated on tonight’s agenda, the City Council has been in discussions about potentially using the former Wiley’s building as a new permanent location for the Mount Pleasant Childcare Center.
Also on the agenda is a contract with Burke – Play That Moves You for new United Thru Play playground structures, including the sub-base and installation.
The council is also scheduled to begin the process of filling the now vacant council seat after Kent White’s move, with the appointment planned for the October 28th meeting.
Tonight’s Mount Pleasant City Council meeting begins at 5:30 at City Hall.
