High School Volleyball
Wapello will take on Columbus tonight at 7:30 pm at home.
Central Lee will travel to Keokuk tonight at 7:15 pm.
Mt. Pleasant will host Albia tonight at 7 pm. Panther head coach Alicia Schrader discussed what the team will be focusing on as the season progresses,
“After this game, I think we just need to know to be confident to finish. We were tipping at the end. We were hesitant. We were serving soft. We just got to know that we got to do what we do every single time. Game match point. We’re going to hit it just as hard as we did on point one. Let’s be confident and finish.”
WACO will make the trip to Hillcrest Academy tonight at 7 pm.
Washington will participate in the Anamosa Tournament on Saturday, September 5th.
Burlington Notre Dame will host their invitational on Saturday with Danville, Van Buren County, New London, Wapello, and West Burlington also competing.
Winfield-Mt. Union will head to English Valleys for a tournament on Saturday.
Fairfield will be back at home on Tuesday, September 8th, against Washington at 7:15 pm.
High School Cross Country
Due to the expected heat, the Wildwood meet has been postponed for tonight.
The Bob Brown Invitational has been canceled for tonight.
Central Lee will fly to Keokuk for a meet tonight at 6:30 pm along with Burlington Notre Dame.
Mt. Pleasant will compete at the Pella Invitational on Saturday, September 5th.
Van Buren County will host their Invite on Tuesday, September 8th, at 4:30 pm with Danville, New London, Mediapolis, Winfield-Mt. Union, and Central Lee making the trip.
WACO will run at the Sigourney Invitational on Tuesday at 4:30 pm.
Columbus and Wapello will travel to Tipton for a meet on Tuesday starting at 5 pm.
High School Football
Mt. Pleasant will compete against Knoxville for their first home game of the season tomorrow, September 4th, at 7 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will be on the call with the pregame show at 6:45 pm.
Wapello will look to bounce back tomorrow at 7 pm against Highland on the road.
WACO will clash with Winfield-Mt. Union at home tomorrow at 7 pm. Wolves head coach Scott McCarty understands that the games only get tougher against district opponents,
“You know, WACO’s always a solid team. You know, I’d like to think we’re in the mix there, too. So you know, we’ve got to just make sure that, you know, week in and week out, there’s no taking the foot off the gas. You know, you’ve got to be ready to go. And, you know, in our six-team district, you know, three of them are going to make the playoffs. So hopefully you can win the right game at the right time and you put yourself in position to get in the playoffs and then you can, you know, make your run from there. So you just got to make sure you take one game at a time and understand that, you know, it’s got to be about you more than your opponent all the time and do your job. And we’ll see how it shakes out.”
West Burlington/Notre Dame will take on Fort Madison at home tomorrow at 7 pm.
Danville will head over to Louisa-Muscatine tomorrow for a 7 pm kickoff.
Mediapolis will travel to Keokuk tomorrow at 7 pm.
Fairfield will hit the road to play Centerville tomorrow at 7:30 pm.
Washington will host Independence tomorrow at 7:30 pm.

High School Girls’ Tennis
Fairfield will travel to Mt. Pleasant tonight at 6:30 pm.

Southeastern Community College
The volleyball team swept Ellsworth Community College last night by scores of 26-24, 25-11, and 26-24. The Blackhawks get back to action with a road game against St. Louis Community College on Saturday, September 5th, at noon.
The men’s soccer team clobbered St. Louis Community College yesterday, 5-0. Louey Franks led the scoring effort with two goals. The Blackhawks will travel to Waubonsee Community College on Saturday at 6 pm.

Iowa kicks off the season against Northern Illinois at home on Saturday, September 5th, at 3:16 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM will have the call.
Iowa State will host Southeast Missouri on Saturday to start their season with gametime at noon. KILJ 98.5 FM and AM 1130 will be on the call.
