Three Injured in Highway 218 Collision

Three people were injured Friday morning in a collision involving a car and semi on Highway 218.

The Iowa State Patrol’s report says a semi driven by Ronald Conrad of Wayland had stopped on 115th Street before entering the intersection and failing to yield to a southbound 2020 Kia driven by Jacob Jordan, 26, of Marengo.

The Kia struck the semi and traveled underneath its cargo trailer. Jordan and two passengers had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Jordan and one passenger were transported to Henry County Health Center. Another passenger was taken to University of Iowa Health Care. A fourth person in the Kia was not injured. All four occupants were wearing seat belts.

Fog reportedly limited visibility at the time of the collision. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County Ambulance Service, Washington County Ambulance Service and Washington Fire Department assisted the State Patrol.
