A Washington County farm family recovering from significant tornado damage has received $5,200 in Hy-Vee gift cards—representing one year of groceries.
Hy-Vee and the nonprofit Farm Rescue presented the gift cards Monday to Clint Whetstine and his family near Wellman.
A 2023 tornado damaged or destroyed much of the family’s farming operation. Farm Rescue later provided planting assistance, helping the Whetstines establish their soybean crop while they continued rebuilding.
Whetstine was selected through the “For the Farmer America 250” campaign, which recognizes farmers who have faced challenges involving natural disasters, injuries or illnesses.
