Construction on Wayland’s long-awaited Main Street improvement project is scheduled to begin Monday, September 28.
DeLong Construction will complete the work along Main Street between Jefferson and Pearl streets. Sewer and water-line improvements will be completed first, followed by paving and sidewalk work.
Wayland City Clerk Beverly Conrad says the project has been planned for years. The city is helping finance the improvements through a bond totaling just under $1 million.
Paving and sidewalk work are expected to be completed next spring.
Residents and customers visiting downtown businesses should watch for construction crews, road closures and detours. The city will provide traffic updates as the project progresses.
