The Winfield Historical Society and Museum will explore Iowa’s agricultural heritage during a special program this Sunday.
“Barnology 101” begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, at the Winfield VFW Building, located at 116 North Locust Street.
Iowa Barn Foundation representative Deann Haden will discuss what barns can reveal about Iowa’s history, how to identify their architectural features and efforts to preserve the structures for future generations.
Haden has researched and written about barns and previously hosted barn tours. She will also share information about 107 Iowa barns that will be open for public tours September 19 and 20.
Refreshments will be served following Sunday’s program. Admission is by freewill donation, with proceeds supporting renovations at the Winfield Historical Society Museum.
