Tara Hillyer

Tara Gail Hillyer, 49, of Middletown, died Sunday, June 16, 2024, at her home.

Born May 18, 1975, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of William and Linda Simmons Farr. On October 24, 1998, she married Steven P. Hillyer at Saints Mary and Patrick’s Catholic Church in West Burlington.

She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She attended Dayton’s School of Hair Design.

Tara was a hair stylist for many years at A Cut Above in Burlington. She was a United States Postal Carrier delivering for the rural routes covering West Point.

Tara enjoyed the outdoors; camping, fishing, working in her garden and planting flowers on the deck. She liked to spend time on the river and with her animals. She was a great cook, but never gave out her recipes. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and the numerous vacations they took.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Hillyer of Middletown; two children Cade Hillyer and Alivia Hillyer both of Middletown; mother, Linda Farr of Mount Pleasant; three siblings Lynette (William Lyon) Farr, Brian (Carol) Farr and Marla Farr all of Mount Pleasant; two sisters-in-law, Kim (Brian) Wolbert of Eldridge and Jan (Bill) Lippert of Burlington; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Hope) Hillyer of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, brother and great niece.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, June 21, 2024 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
