100 Days of Summer

The days of summer that fall between Memorial Day and Labor Day and are the most dangerous for teen drivers.  AAA research shows a significant increase in fatal collisions during this period, leading it to be called the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer.”  So far this year, the Iowa State Patrol has reported over 100 fatalities on the roadways.  Almost 60% of those fatalities involved people who were not wearing seatbelts.  Distracted driving is the leading cause of death among teens in the state of Iowa.

Slow down, give yourself time to get to your destination, buckle up and stay off the phone.  State and local law enforcement agencies have teamed up to provide extra patrols on the Iowa Roadways through June 4th, 2024.
