Dream Builder Coming to Mount Pleasant
If you have a dream of owning your own business, the Dream Builder class is a great place to start. The Dream Builder program will be coming to Mount Pleasant beginning in September.

If you have always dreamed of owning your own business, we encourage you to join us for Dream Builder. This course helps you explore and plan your dream, market and sell your dream, manage and profit from your dream plus much more. Dream Builder is a hybrid of online courses that teach you how to start or grow your own business. It also incorporates local speakers and conversations with successful businesses right here in our own community.
The cost to attend this session is $120 per business idea. If you complete the entire seven-week course, that money will be refunded to you. Once completed, you will walk away with a business plan and will even have the opportunity to pitch your business idea for prize money.

Henry County Public Health to offer free COVID-19 test kits
Test Iowa has transitioned from hosting drive-through sites to providing take-home test kits and Henry County Public Health will become a pick-up site for the free test kits effective Thursday, July 22nd. These test kits will be saliva sample PCR tests that you can do at home and send directly to the State Hygienic Lab.
To request a test please call our office at 319-385-0779 to make an appointment. Please do not come inside our office if you are sick or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. The test kit will contain instructions and samples can be returned using a UPS drop-off box (at U.S. Bank, Pilot, and Alaniz in Mt. Pleasant). Arrest Report
On July 19th at approximately 11:38 a.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a possible stolen or abandoned vehicle. While investigating, Levi Rogers, 32, drove up in a car and it was discovered he was driving on a suspended license. Levi was arrested for Driving While Suspended, a Serious Misdemeanor. Further investigation was conducted, subsequently, Levi was also charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd and Theft 5th for cutting off and attempting to sell a catalytic convertor.

Yvonne Ogier
Yvonne Ogier, 77, died Monday, July 19, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Yvonne was born February 26, 1944 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leroy and Karline (Affalter) Petersen. She graduated from Juda High School in Juda, Wisconsin, and attended the Medical Laboratory Technician School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On September 22, 1963, Yvonne was united in marriage to Ted Ogier in Juda, Wisconsin. They have lived in the Mount Pleasant community since 1964. Yvonne worked for Motorola as a buyer in the purchasing department. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, serving on a variety of committees and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved to travel and was always ready for a new adventure. As later years slowed her down physically, she kept her mind active by crocheting and working crossword puzzles. She was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren as well as a great many cats.
Yvonne is survived by her husband Ted of Mount Pleasant; a son, Cory (Karen) Ogier of Sierra Vista, Arizona; a daughter, Wendy (Chris) McCoy of Framingham, Massachusetts; 4 grandchildren, Anjali Tandon, Matthew Mulligan, Zach (Cheyanne) Ogier, Allie (Dan) Sterling; and a great grandson, Ezra Ogier. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Tova, and an infant brother.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Pastor Steve English will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Single Vehicle Crash
On July 19th at approximately 8:20 a.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single motor vehicle collision in the 2300-grid of 220th Street. An investigation into the collision determined Bryan Kinsey, 20 of Wapello, was driving a pickup west bound on 220th Street. He lost control of the vehicle striking the end of a guard rail and going into the ditch. Mr. Kinsey was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. The damage to the vehicle was estimated at $6000. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by New London Fire and Rescue and the Henry County Health Center Ambulance.
Prep Baseball: New London Heads to State for the First Time Since 2006

Oskaloosa — For the first time since 2008, the New London Tiger baseball team has reached the pinnacle — and they’re not done yet.
The Tigers rode timely hitting, slick fielding and elite pitching to a 4-2 win yesterday over Mount Ayr in Oskaloosa clinching their spot in Carroll in next week’s Class 1A State Baseball Tournament.
New London got the scoring started in the 2nd inning and never trailed, grabbing the first olive on Ryan Richey’s booming solo home run, his first of the season.
Then, the Tigers held off every rally started by Mount Ayr.
Kooper Schulte inherited a jam in the 6th as the Raiders put the first two men on and chased New London starter Hecniel Rodriguez.
Brad Helmerson went with Kooper Schulte who induced three ground balls and kept the Tiger lead intact at 3-2.
From there, New London would add on the bottom of the 6th.
Ryan Richey reached on a fielder’s choice and after a Seth Bailey single that put runners on the corners with two men gone, Josh Catala stepped to the plate and grounded an 0-2 fastball into left field for a much needed insurance run.
That gave the Tigers their 4-2 they would not relinquish.
“When Josh is on it changes the game for everybody” Helmerson said.
“Josh just keeps fighting, he knows the strike zone well.”
Schulte worked a scoreless, 1-2-3 7th inning to earn the save as New London then mobbed him.
Hecniel Rodriguez earned the win — he was stellar over five innings, allowing just four hits and two runs while striking out nine.
New London, now 26-1, will play in Monday’s quarterfinal round of the 1A State Tournament at Merchant’s Park in Carroll.
Their opponent is TBD as of now.
Mount Ayr bows out 21-5.
