The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a scam through varies social media platforms where someone in your friends list, usually someone you would trust, who will then message you about investing money with them for a short-term gain.
These are not your friends but rather someone else who has been hacked and scammed by the same person. These people will show you identification and even video of the person you know saying it is a legitimate investment, however, we can assure you this is a scam.
The Sheriff’s office would like to remind everyone to be very cautious with social media platforms, if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.
It is a good practice to NEVER give out passwords, personal identification information, or click links. Even from a trusted source without proper verification.
