Men’s Golf: White Named CAC Men’s Golfer of the Week
Former Mount Pleasant standout Trace White has been named the Continental Athletic Conference men’s golfer of the week, the league has announced.
It’s the second week in a row a Tiger has earned the honor.
White competed in the William Penn Invitational last week taking second place after carding a 75. Iowa Wesleyan finished third in the team race in Oskaloosa.
Just a few days later White shot an 83 to take 14th at the difficult Mount Mercy Spring Classic.
White and Iowa Wesleyan will be back on the links on Thursday, when they take part in the Mount Mercy Invite.
Tee time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
Boys’ Golf: Mount Pleasant Third at Washington
Nick Matheny recorded a 7-over 42 to lead Mount Pleasant to third place as a team in Southeast Conference meet at Washington yesterday.
Demon senior Roman Roth once again took home medalist honors with a 4-over 39.
Washington won the team race with 172 strokes, with Fairfield placing second.
Mount Pleasant finished with 195 strokes. Keokuk and Fort Madison rounded out the five.
Reece Kempker poured in a 48 for Mount Pleasant, as well.
Girls’ Golf: Wibben and Walderbach Lead Panthers
Sammi Wibben and Kylie Walderbach were the lone golfers for Mount Pleasant, who did not have enough players for a team score at their home invite yesterday.
Burlington’s Lauren Briggs was the meet medalist, finishing with a 5-over 42.
Washington won the team race, with Burlington finishing in second.
Wibben shot a 49 with Walderbach carding a 57.
Girls’ Soccer: Mount Pleasant Rolls to Easy Win over Fairfield
Mount Pleasant had four players score two goals or more, as the Panthers improved to 4-2 with a 10-0 win over Fairfield.
Tori Wilson scored and assisted twice, while Abby West also had two goals and two assists.
Charice Auwerda and Elly Manning each had three goals and two assists, in the offensive onslaught.
Evelyn Escobar made two saves for the Panthers.
Mount Pleasant will host Fort Madison on Thursday night.
Fairfield dropped to 0-4.
Boys’ Soccer: Mount Pleasant Defeated by Fairfield
Fairfield earned their first win of the season and did so in dominating fashion with a 9-0 defeat of Mount Pleasant last night.
The Trojans lead 2-0 at halftime before the floodgates opening in the second half.
Fairfield scored seven goals to ensure the victory.
The Trojans are now 1-4 overall and 1-3 in Southeast Conference play.
Mount Pleasant fell to 1-6 an 0-4 in the league.
The Panthers will get Class 2A’s No. 13 ranked Fort Madison Thursday night.
Men’s College Basketball: Wesleyan to Host Summer Youth Tournament
The Iowa Wesleyan men’s basketball program will be hosting a youth boys and girls’ tournament this summer, the school has announced.
The tournament is open to boys and girls team from 5th-8th grade. The boys’ teams will play on Saturday, June 4th with the girls’ playing on Sunday, June 5th.
Action will begin at 8:00 a.m. both days.

All games will be played at Ruble Arena.
