Join in a Memorial Day Service at the Swedish Museum in Swedesburg, Iowa at 10:00 a.m.  The Swedish Museum is at 107 James Avenue.

The Henry County Veterans Memorial Service will begin at 10:30am at the Mt. Pleasant High School Gym, 2104 S. Grand Ave.,  with Dean King as Master of Ceremonies. The event will begin with Presentation of Colors by members of the VFW, American Legion Posts, and Auxiliaries, the families of 7 people who have been added to the memorial will be recognized, and the Optimist Club will conduct a Wreath Presentation in honor of Vern Dorothy.  The MPCHS Band will perform.

• Mt. Pleasant Elementary Students will perform a presentation of the Gettysburg Address/Battle Hymn of the Republic.
• General Logan’s orders on the 1st Memorial Day will be read.
• Optimist Club wreath presentation in honor of Vern Dorothy.
• Featured Speaker: Taylor Collins.
• 7 names added to the memorial/Families honored.
• Honor Guard will fire a 3-volley salute.
• TAPS performed.

New London VFW Post 7641 & Auxiliary will hold a Memorial Day Observance at 2 pm at the New London Veterans Memorial. Lawn chairs are suggested. In case of inclement weather the observance will be held at VFW Post 7641, 802 East McKinley in New London.
