The Iowa Department of Natural Resources invites you to ring in the New Year with a First Day Hike on January 1st! Experience spectacular views, beautiful settings and the cultural treasures offered by Iowa’s state parks and forests. On Thursday, January 1st, 23 parks will host guided hikes with park staff and volunteers leading the way. An additional 21 parks are offering staff-picked, self-guided hikes so you can visit and hike on your own, when it fits your schedule. Please visit the Iowa DNR website for more information.
