The historic Harlan-Lincoln House in Mount Pleasant is open for tours Wednesdays and Saturdays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. March through October. Located at 101 West Broad Street, the museum highlights the connection between Senator James Harlan and the family of President Abraham Lincoln, featuring artifacts and stories from both families. Donations are appreciated, and additional tour times may be scheduled by appointment.

Masonic #8 Lodge is hosting a SWAPMEET from 9am – 4pm at 206 N. Main Street in Mt. Pleasant.  It’s a “Guy Stuff” sale and is open to the public.  There is a $2 admission fee, concessions are available, a 50/50 drawing, and hourly prizes (need not be present to win.)  All proceeds from the swap meet go toward supporting Masonic #8 Lodge.

Dover hot chicken sandwiches! We missed out on the chance during the stroll, but you can enjoy them tonight from 4-7pm at the Dover Museum in New London. Hot chicken sandwich on a bun or biscuit just like the stroll only 3 months later.

The Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #58 is holding a Chili & Salad Supper fundraiser from 5:30pm – 7pm at the Mt. Pleasant Veteran’s Hall, 300 W. Monroe Street.  The meal is a free will donation to support Iowa Boys State which is a week long “mock government” for high school junior boys. Boys State provides a hands on leadership and civics program.

Preserve Oakland Mills is holding a “Save the Bridge” Trivia Night at the Moose Lodge, 108 N Saunders Ave, in Mt. Pleasant at 7pm!  Join in the fun with Rich Pickel Trivia, and all proceeds to toward preserving Oakland Mills!
