High School Baseball
Winfield-Mt. Union hosted a tournament over the weekend and dropped both of their games, losing 14-8 to Pella Christian and 8-1 to Albia. Graham Haines slashed a double for an RBI against the Eagles.
Also making the trip to Winfield was Mt. Pleasant, who swept the competition. In a five pitcher effort, the Panthers snuck past Albia, 9-8, with Ryan Helling picking up the win, while Grayson Walker shut down Pella Christian, 10-0, in three innings of work.
Winfield-Mt. Union will tangle with Wapello tomorrow, June 2nd, at 5 pm on the road.
Mt. Pleasant will head to Fairfield for a road doubleheader tonight with game one at 5:30 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will be on the call with the pregame show at 5:15 pm.
Fairfield and Van Buren County traveled to Davis County for a tournament over the weekend and both exited without a victory. The Trojans lost 9-5 to the Mustangs, while the Warriors fell 14-0. Dain Burkhart and Voss Richardson each tabbed two RBIs in the loss for Fairfield.
Van Buren County will face off against Pekin on Thursday, June 4th, at 7 pm on the road.
Burlington Notre Dame dropped two heartbreakers over the weekend, losing 6-5 to Columbus Catholic and 11-9 to Newman Catholic. Eli Oleson clobbered a solo home run against the Sailors, while Landry Haberichter ended the weekend with a double, a triple, a home run, and three RBIs.
West Burlington will fly to Burlington Notre Dame tomorrow at 7 pm.
Danville will compete against Hillcrest Academy tonight at 7 pm on the road.
Central Lee will tangle with Wapello tonight at 7 pm on the road.
New London will hit the road tonight to play Pekin at 7 pm.
Washington will start conference play with a road doubleheader against Burlington tonight with game one at 5:30 pm.
Mediapolis will travel to Louisa-Muscatine tonight at 7 pm.
High School Softball
West Burlington/Notre Dame and Mediapolis went to Louisa-Muscatine for a weekend tournament and the Falcons collected a 1-1 record, losing to Louisa-Muscatine 7-4 and outlasting the Bullettes 13-10. For the Falcons, Madelyn Thomas and Tannisyn Christofferson slugged with Thomas hitting two home runs for five RBIs and Christofferson collecting three home runs for six RBIs.
Mediapolis also fell to Lisbon, 13-5. Kenna Jankowski finished the weekend with two RBIs.
West Burlington/Notre Dame will compete against Highland at 7 pm tonight on the road.
Mediapolis will take on Louisa-Muscatine on the road tonight at 7 pm.
Van Buren County and Central Lee participated in the Redette Classic over the weekend and both teams lost to Carlisle, while the Warriors defeated Moravia, 16-6. Rylee Caviness nabbed a double, a triple, and two RBIs, while Elli Daugherty led the team with two doubles and four RBIs in the victory.
Van Buren County will tangle with Pekin on the road at 7 pm on Thursday, June 4th.
Wapello split their games at the “Jim Turner Classic” over the weekend, losing 8-3 to West Marshall and beating Durant 4-0. Quin Zwiebohmer pitched a complete game shutout, notching 15 strikeouts, while Mila Jordan clouted a double for two RBIs in the win.
Wapello will host Central Lee tonight at 7 pm.
Holy Trinity Catholic will face off against Lone Tree tonight at 7 pm at home.
Washington will hit the road to play Burlington in a doubleheader tonight with game one at 5:30 pm.
Fairfield will start conference play tonight with a home doubleheader against Mt. Pleasant with game one at 5:30 pm.

WACO will host Lone Tree tomorrow, June 2nd, at 7 pm.

High School Postseason Soccer
In Class 1A Region 2, the Mediapolis girls’ team will attempt to upset Assumption in the Regional semifinals tomorrow, June 2nd, at 7 pm on the road.
For Class 2A Region 4, the Fort Madison girls’ team will travel to Burlington tomorrow at 7 pm.
High School Boys’ Tennis
The 2026 Iowa High School Athletic Association’s State Team tournament is scheduled to start tomorrow, June 2nd.
Local Summer Athletic Camps
Mt. Pleasant girls’ basketball is offering up a camp for any girls’ basketball players entering 3rd through 12th grades from June 23rd through the 25th located at the Mt. Pleasant High School Gym. The camp will focus on the fundamentals and introduce team concepts employed by the high school’s system.

Prospect League
The Burlington Bees had a rough weekend slate, going 0-3 and getting shutout twice. The Bees lost 7-4 and 7-0 to the Champion City HalfTrax on their Saturday doubleheader and 4-0 to the Normal CornBelters yesterday. Burlington will be back at home with a matchup against the Clinton LumberKings tomorrow, June 2nd, at noon.
The Clinton LumberKings swept the Quincy Doggy Paddlers over the weekend, 13-9 and 9-4. Gavin Awbrey collected a double, a triple, and six RBIs over the pair of games.
