Michael H. Pezley, 79, of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away at 2:37 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, Iowa.
He was born on December 5, 1946 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of John and Virginia Belle (Tweedy) Pezley. On September 2, 1967 he married Beverly Kay Lowenberg at Zion Mennonite Church in Donnellson.
Survivors include his wife: Beverly; son Shawn (Michelle Diane) Pezley; daughter Michelle Kay (Fiancée Kevin Craig) Pezley; grandchildren: Megan (Brandt) Damman, John Pezley; sister Jonquil (Loren) Simmons; and brothers: Roger (Jean) Pezley, Ronald (Leslie) Pezley, David (Michelle Lynne) Pezley. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece.
Michael was member of Zion Mennonite Church in Donnellson, the Mid Lee Council of Churches and the Montrose Gun Club. He served as President of his work credit union. Michael was a United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed fishing, reading, watching westerns, and exercising. Above all he loved his family and grandchildren. He was the type of guy who never met a stranger.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2026 at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2026 at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson. A flag presentation will be conducted by the Donnellson American Legion Gillaspey-Moodie Post #474 following the service.
Burial will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the Donnellson Public Library.
