Two outstanding Henry County 4-H members have been recognized with the 2026 Brownfield Iowa Youth Ag Award.
The awards were presented by KILJ Radio during the Henry County Fair. KILJ is proud to be a longtime Brownfield affiliate station, allowing the station to share agricultural news and information with listeners throughout Southeast Iowa. Through that partnership, KILJ presents the Brownfield Iowa Youth Ag Award to recognize young people who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and a passion for agriculture and their communities.
The award honors one male and one female graduating senior who have made a difference through their involvement in 4-H, FFA, and other community activities.
This year’s female recipient is Zenlynn Lee, the daughter of Holli and Adam Lee. Zenlynn has been an active member of the New London Lassies and Lads 4-H Club.
Throughout her 4-H career, Zenlynn has served as a Teen Council member and as her club’s treasurer. She has also volunteered with the Daddy Daughter Dance and Henry County 4-H Summer Camps.
Zenlynn says 4-H has helped her grow as a leader and role model while developing important skills in communication, commitment, responsibility, determination, and dedication. She encourages younger 4-H members to step outside their comfort zones and take advantage of the many opportunities 4-H provides.
This fall, Zenlynn will attend Kirkwood Community College to pursue a career in dental hygiene. She hopes to eventually return to Southeast Iowa to work in a local dental office while continuing to raise show cattle for future 4-H and FFA exhibitors.
The male recipient is Landon Lair, a graduate of New London High School and the son of Travis and Allison Lair.
Landon has been a member of the New London Pioneers 4-H Club for eight years and has served in leadership roles including president and vice president. He has also participated in numerous volunteer projects throughout his 4-H career.
Landon encourages future 4-H members to get involved and stay involved, saying the program provides many opportunities to discover interests, build skills, and make lifelong connections.
This fall, Landon will attend Southeastern Community College to take part in the welding program.
Congratulations to Zenlynn Lee and Landon Lair on being named the 2026 Brownfield Iowa Youth Ag Award recipients. Their leadership, dedication, and commitment to agriculture and their communities represent the future of Iowa.
Inviting you to the fair are Krabill Seamless Gutters, the Henry County Farm Bureau, Hunsaker Trucking, Kramers Gas & Groceries, and Liqui Grow of Mount Pleasant.
