Henry County Static Exhibits Headed to Iowa State Fair

Fair season continues with a fun filled night in Mount Pleasant last night at the Henry County Fair Grounds. Henry County leadership, values, and our future generations shined. 

More than two dozen Henry County 4-H static exhibits are headed to the Iowa State Fair after being selected during county fair judging this week. The State Fair qualifiers were announced Wednesday evening as part of the 2026 Henry County Fair.  

In the Ag, Natural Resources and Animals division, Carly Mullin qualified with Tapping into Mars, while Ava Kempker earned State Fair trips for both a liter board and a squirrel feeder. 

The Creative Arts division will be well represented by Ella Kann, who qualified four projects: Colors in the Canopy, Fruit Salad, Koi in the Current, and Miracles. Also advancing are Leah Anderson with Mountain Nightfall, Madelynn Nelson with Bucket of Junk Cat, Emmerson Syfert with an outdoor table, and Piper Faler with Wildflower. 

Veda Watson earned a State Fair berth in the Thrifty Meal Challenge with her chicken and broccoli Alfredo recipe. 

In Family Consumer Sciences, State Fair qualifiers include Jolynn Martin with granola and a church bag, Beatrice Anderson with a barn quilt and chocolate chip cookies, Taryn Brown with a pink wrap skirt, Ava Kempker with bath scrub, Matilda Anderson with rye bread, Kara Campbell with cake pops, and Lindsey Steele with a fall centerpiece. 

The Personal Development category will send Mila Howard’s VFW mapping project and Maison Nelson’s pig wash bin to Des Moines. Additional qualifiers include Peyton Syfert with an outdoor planter and Henry Orr with a cornhole game.

The 2026 Iowa State Fair is scheduled for August 13th through the 23rd in Des Moines, where Henry County’s top 4-H exhibitors will compete alongside the best youth projects from across Iowa.
