Two people were arrested Sunday afternoon after a reported domestic disturbance led to a traffic disruption on Highway 218 in Henry County.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called just before 12:30 p.m. to the area near mile marker 56 after reports of a man and woman physically fighting along the side of the highway. Authorities say the male suspect got back into a vehicle and drove south.
Just minutes later, dispatchers received numerous 911 calls reporting the same man had stopped near mile marker 52 and was standing in the northbound lanes of Highway 218. Callers reported he was climbing onto stopped vehicles and preventing traffic from moving.
Henry County deputies, assisted by the Mount Pleasant Police Department, responded and took 37-year-old Raymond Bradley of Keokuk into custody.
Bradley is charged with domestic abuse assault, an aggravated misdemeanor; violation of a protective order, a simple misdemeanor; disorderly conduct for blocking the roadway, a serious misdemeanor; interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a simple misdemeanor.
Following further investigation, authorities also arrested 43-year-old Tasha Pierce of Cedar Rapids. She is charged with violation of a protective order, a simple misdemeanor.
As always, a criminal charge is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
