A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 34 Saturday night.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report at approximately 10:30 p.m. from 30-year-old Jaydin Johnson of Burlington, who said he may have struck someone near mile marker 245 in the eastbound lanes.
Investigators determined 31-year-old Dakota Velez, of Burlington and Circle Lake, California, was walking on or near the white line along the south side of the eastbound lane. Authorities say the passenger-side mirror of Johnson’s eastbound 2015 Ford sedan struck Velez’s left arm.
Velez had visible swelling to the left elbow and was transported by Henry County EMS for treatment. No citations were issued.
The New London Police and Fire departments, Henry County EMS and the Iowa State Patrol assisted the sheriff’s office.
