A Muscatine man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading Louisa County deputies on a motorcycle pursuit through Oakville late Saturday night.
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were patrolling Oakville around 11:56 p.m. on August 1st after receiving complaints about motorcycles and minibikes being driven recklessly through town. Deputies spotted a motorcycle committing multiple traffic violations on Elm Street and attempted a traffic stop.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the rider accelerated away from deputies, cut through several residential yards, and eventually crashed the motorcycle near the intersection of Pleasant and Ash streets. The driver then fled on foot and allegedly attempted to enter a residence where he was staying before deputies caught him.
Authorities say a search following the arrest uncovered methamphetamine in the suspect’s pocket.
Jaydne Horvath-Phillips, 26, of Muscatine, was arrested and charged with third-offense possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony; aggravated misdemeanor eluding; aggravated misdemeanor driving while barred; aggravated misdemeanor interference with official acts; and six simple misdemeanor traffic offenses.
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office says Horvath-Phillips posted bond and was released from the Louisa County Jail on August 3rd.
