In response to concerns regarding the use of force during David Hudnall’s June 29 arrest, the Mount Pleasant Pleasant Police Department assinged an outside agency to conduct a formal, independent investigation into the arrest. The purpose of the investigation was to ensure the arrest complied with the Mount pleasant Police Department’s policies. The investigation has been completed, including a review of all available video recordings of the arrest. The investigation has determined that the arresting officer complied with Department policies in using appropriate force to restrain Hudnall from engaging in further unlawful acts and to protect himself or other from harm. Iowa law provides that, at this time, and further information concerning the investigation is a confidential personnel matter.
