Carl M. Foster, 97, of West Point, died Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Mediapolis. He was born on the family farm in Lee County on March 1, 1926 to Clyde Newton and Elbertine Maude Hampton Foster.
He was a graduate of New London High School. He farmed the family farm where he lived all but three years of his life and was a Union Electrician for fifty-seven years. Carl was a member of Masonic Lodge AF & AM #28 and IBEW Local 13. He enjoyed woodworking, owned and operated Skeetland, and loved trapshooting since childhood.
Survivors include two sons Clinton Daniel (Julie) and Lisle Scott both of Burlington; daughter Laura (David) Bawidamann of Burnsville, MN; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Clifford, sister Ruby Neuweg, grandson J.D. Foster, and granddaughter Jessica Wiegard.
Masonic services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 17, 2023 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with the family greeting friends from 1:00 until the time of the service. Private burial will be held at Burge Cemetery, rural New London.
