Central Lee and Mount Vernon Take Top Honors at Mt. Pleasant Marching Invitational

The 25th Annual Mt. Pleasant Marching Invitational went on as planned Saturday, September 20, 2025, despite damp skies and the threat of rain. Bands performed with energy and precision on the field before a supportive crowd at the Maple leaf stadium.

In Class 1A/2A, Central Lee claimed first place, followed by Wapello in second. Central Lee also swept the caption awards, earning top honors for Drum Major, Color Guard, Percussion, and Hornline.

The Class 3A competition was tightly contested, with Mount Vernon emerging as the champion. Oskaloosa finished second, followed by Northwest in third, Fort Madison in fourth, and Washington in fifth. Caption awards in 3A were spread among several programs: Northwest captured Drum Major, Mount Vernon took Color Guard, Oskaloosa earned Percussion, and Washington won Hornline.

The spirit of the event was highlighted by the Lennis Moore Fan Appreciation Award, presented to Mount Vernon for bringing the largest and most enthusiastic fan base, with 177 supporters counted.

Organizers celebrated the invitational’s 25th anniversary by applauding all the participating bands for their resilience and showmanship. Despite the weather, the Mt. Pleasant Marching Invitational once again showcased the dedication of student musicians and the communities that cheer them on.
