Charles Lee “Chuck” Ring, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, July 27, 2026 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City.
Chuck was born March 30, 1951 in Rockford, Illinois. He was the son of Eldon and Wanda (Bezdek) Ring. He graduated from High School in Rockford.
Chuck was called to the service of his country. Chuck entered the US Army in Chicago on June 26, 1971. He served as a Military Policeman with the 463rd Military Police Company of the 5th Engineers Battalion. He was honorably discharged on May 10, 1973 at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.
On August 25, 1978, Chuck was united in marriage to Wendy Talignani. The couple later divorced.
Chuck worked for Rockford Blacktop and as an over-the-road truck driver. In 1983, he moved to Iowa and took a position in maintenance management of the shopping mall in Marshalltown, IA. As the company also owned Westland Mall in West Burlington, Chuck moved within the company to a similar position with Westland. He moved to reside in the Burlington/Danville area. In the 1990’s Chuck accepted a position as the custodian for the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant. He was a devoted caretaker of the church building and grounds. The congregation greatly appreciated Chuck’s thoughtfulness and attention to detail. He retired after 20 years of service to the church.
In his spare time, Chuck like to operate radio-controlled vehicles and aircraft. He was always up for target practice with his guns. Chuck was also very meticulous in the care of his yard at his home in rural Mt. Pleasant.
Those thankful for sharing in Chuck’s life include a daughter and her partner – Melissa Ring and Nick Robinson of Burlington; 4 sisters – Pam (Rich) Boyle of Arizona, Patti Giger of Rockford, Debbi (Jesus) Vicencio of Rockford and Vikki Frye of Marshalltown; his former wife, Wendy; 5 grandchildren – Gage (Halen) Smith, Gunner (Ally) Robinson, Gavin Robinson, Gabriel Robinson and Shelby (Brandon) Hofman; 5 great granddaughters – Aurora, Jemma, Leighlynn, Freya and Lenora. Chuck was anticipating the birth of his first great grandson at the time of his death.
Chuck’s parents precede him in death.
Per Chuck’s request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation rites have been entrusted to the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, IA.
