Cleda Mae Crill, age 78, of Winfield, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family for Thanksgiving. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Winfield. A private interment will be held at the Winfield Scott Township Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Cleda. Cleda was born October 26, 1943 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Torrance and Gwendolyn Berene (Coble) Mills. She graduated from high school in 1963 in Eddyville, Iowa. Cleda was united in marriage to Gary Thomas Crill on June 29, 1963 in Kahoka, Missouri.
Cleda and Gary moved to Winfield in 1963 and together they owned and operated Crill’s Upholstery. Cleda worked for the Winfield Beacon newspaper and drove a bus for the WMU School District for 11 years. She owned and operated Crill’s Country Cookin’ for 15 years. Cleda retired for 2 years and returned to work at Porks, formerly Crill’s Country Cookin.’ She retired at the age of 69 and lived in Winfield until she moved to New London Specialty Care.
She enjoyed eating at different restaurants and going to the casino with Gary and all of her friends. Cleda loved to cook for her family and the Winfield and surrounding communities.
She will be deeply missed by her children: Tony Crill of Burlington; Tina (Bob) Olson of Winfield; and Teresa Crill of Winfield; grandchildren: Dallas Crill (Amy Piper) of Winfield; Nicholas Olson (Ashley Lamb) of Burlington; Brittany (Steven) Brown of New Ulm, MN; Logan (Nate) Schneider of Lone Tree; and Lexee Hartsock of Cedar Rapids; and great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Bella, Hunter, and Ariah Brown, and Maverick and Mason Schneider.
Cleda was preceded in death by her parents, husband and great-grandson, Finnley Robert Schneider.
