Citizen comments:  Comments must be directed to the subject under consideration.  The presiding officer shall rule on the relevance of the citizen comments.  Citizens making personal, impertinent, or slanderous remarks may be barred by the presiding officer from further comment before the Council during the meeting.

Regular session, City Council

1        Call to order, immediately following the public hearing.

 

  1. Accept or amend the agenda.

 

  1. Open forum: A time set aside to receive comments from the public regarding city business.  The Mayor and City Council welcome comments from the public on any subject pertaining to City business, including items on this agenda.  You are asked to state your name and address for the record and to limit your remarks to five minutes in order that others may be given the opportunity to speak.  The Order of Business is at the discretion of the Chair.  No action will be taken.

 

  1. Discussion and action on the March 2024 Des Moines County Sheriff’s report.

 

  1. Zach James, SE IA Regional Planning Commission
  2. A) Updating the city’s comprehensive plan.  Action by council if needed.
  3. B) Presentation of funds raised for the city’s comprehensive plan renewal. Action by council if needed.

 

  1. Brittni Rahmus, SE IA Regional Planning Commission
  2. A) Discussion on Regional Planning to administer any/all of grants for the wastewater treatment plant project.   Action if needed.
  3. B) Review of the Wastewater and Drinking Water Treatment Financial Assistance Program (WTFAP) grant that the city recently received.  Action by council if needed.

 

  1. Action on Resolution 2024-07 approving the 2024/2025 budget..

 

  1. Fire Chief/building inspector report – action by council if needed.

  2. Update on the property located at 403 South Main Street (driveway). Action if needed.
  3. Action to go into closed session per Iowa Code 21.5 (1)(j) “to discuss the purchase or sale of particular real estate only where premature disclosure could be reasonably expected to increase the price the governmental body would have to pay for that property or reduce the price the governmental body would receive for that property.”
  4. Action to come out of closed session.
  5. Statement by the City Attorney regarding the closed session.
  6. Action by council if needed pertaining to the closed session.
  7. Update from the City Auditor regarding the issue of a city making donations to organizations. Action by council if needed.
