Darlene Shofe, 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Addington Place in Mt. Pleasant.
Darlene was born on March 5, 1934, in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of Howard Marcus & Alice (Blixt) Stucker. As a child she lived south of Mt. Pleasant on a farm where she developed the love for all kinds of animals. Darlene graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in the class of 1952. Darlene was united in marriage to Delbert Foss and from this union two children were born, Sue and Dean. Darlene and Delbert owned and operated the Dream Drive-In in Mt. Pleasant for many years. After their divorce she was united in marriage to Chuck Kimble. Following the death of Chuck, Darlene was united in marriage to Dick Shofe.
Darlene will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and her many different collections of roosters and chickens. She had a wonderful way of entertaining people and always had a good thing to say about people. She was very loving and caring to her family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Sue Krzystofiak and Dean Foss both of Mt. Pleasant, her grandchildren, Nicolas (Orfa) Foss and Kate Krzystofiak, great grandchildren, Nicolas “Nico” Foss, Sofia Foss and Camila Foss and two brothers, Bob (Carol) Stucker of Minnesota and Wendell (Yvette) Stucker of California.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and one brother, Daryll Stucker.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wellspring Evangelical Free Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Tye Male officiating. Burial will follow in the Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. A memorial has been established in her memory.
