David Henry Heitmann, Sr

David Henry Heitmann, Sr., 60, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of St. Charles, MO, died Friday, November 12, 2021 at his residence.

A committal service for Mr. Heitmann will be held at a later date at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Charles, MO. A celebration of life will also be held later in St. Charles.

David was born December 8, 1960 in St. Charles, MO. He was the son of Orvey Henry and Katherine Lorraine (Hildreth) Heitmann. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and St. Charles High School. In August of 1983 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles, David was united in marriage to Lynn Renee Porter. The couple later divorced.

On October 1, 1980 in St. Louis, MO David was inducted into the United States Army. He was an infantry soldier and sharpshooter in the 187th Infantry Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division. He was honorable discharged with a rank of SP-4 on September 30, 1983 at Ft. Campbell, KY. He remained in the US Army Reserves until September 30, 1986.

For many years, David was a glazer in the Glazer’s Union Local 513. A true lover of the outdoors, he then went to work for Meyer Landscaping. He then opened his own landscaping business,  Heitmann’s Landscaping, all in St. Charles.

He loved to hunt, bow hunt and all outdoor activities. When inside, David liked to bowl. He proudly adhered to his conservative, Republican values.

Those thankful for sharing in David’s life include his four children – Christina Mosier of Mt. Pleasant, Barbie (Aaron) Cowick of Salem, David (Cassandra) Heitmann, Jr. of Burlington and Katherine Hitemann of St. Charles; 2 siblings – Mike (Janice) Hitemann of St. Charles and Janet (John) Harp of Ozark, MO; 20 grandchildren and his former wife Lynn of St. Charles.

His parents precede him in death.
