Delbert Allen “Duke” Moser, 86, of New London and formerly Burlington and Kingston, died Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington. He was one of 11 children, born November 30, 1938, in Kingston, Iowa to George Richard Moser and Laura Amanda (York) Moser. He attended Huron and Kingston schools.
He married Phyllis Irene Underwood in Kingston on December 21,1957. She preceded him in death on September 21,1997. Together they had two daughters, Dawn and Denise and cared for foster children for several years. He worked for over 30 years, retiring in 1992, as a welder at J.I. Case. He was in their first class of MIG welding training and was a member of the UAW #807. In his spare time, he also helped Sam Moser and Donnie Paschal on their farms.
He was a member of United Community Church of Yarmouth and West Avenue Baptist Church in Burlington. Duke enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting, bowling and especially spending time with his family. He loved good food and a good cup of black coffee. He also enjoyed cooking, mushroom hunting, and tinkering.
Duke is survived by his daughter Dawn (Mike) Kaczinski of New London; son- in- law, Dewey Loyd of New London; grandchildren Erin (Ben) Seibert of Burlington, Jessie (Calton) English of New London, Culley Loyd of New London, and Bryce (Meagen) Loyd of Danville; great grandchildren Kylie and Hagen Loyd, Camden and Jett English, Brodie and Sydney Seibert, and another great granddaughter on the way; nieces and nephews; and special friend Sharon Hamlin of Burlington.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Denise Loyd; brothers George Jr., Eddie, Jacob, Richard, Frank, and Jim; and sisters Ruth Sietz, Georgia Belle Hulett, Alice Paschal, and Laurada Howe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Elliott Chapel, New London, Iowa with Pastor Harry Hollingworth officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Monday, May 26 at Elliott Chapel.
Duke loved his cowboy boots….and if you got “em”, wear “em” to his service. Memorials have been established for the New London Fire and Rescue, New London Trap Club, and DNR Youth program. According to his wishes, his body will be cremated following the services, and at a later date inurned next to his beloved wife and daughter at Claypoole Cemetery, Wever, Iowa.
