Don L. Hardin, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Wapello Specialty Care. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Wapello. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edwards Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Don’s name. Don L. Hardin was born on March 1, 1935 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Paul and Viola (Aberle) Hardin. Don was a 1952 graduate of Oakville High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. On July 29, 1955, Don was united in marriage to June Wilson in Wapello. June preceded Don in death on January 19, 2013. Don was a teacher for the Wapello Community School System for 16 years and then went on to own his own painting business. Don was a former member of the Wapello School Board and was a coach for many sports. He enjoyed fishing, watching the grandkids sporting events and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Don will be deeply missed by his sons, Randy (Kris) Hardin of Iowa City, Kevin (Patty) Hardin of Wapello, Gordon (Lisa) Hardin of Wapello and Don (Annette) Hardin of Wapello; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Sandra Whitlow of Raytown, Missouri and Lynn (Teresa) Hardin of Middletown, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; grandson, Matt Hardin and three brothers, Dean, Ray and Kenny Hardin.
