Donald Davison, 94, of rural Wayland, died Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Parkview Home in Wayland. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Wayland Mennonite Church. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim website, Facebook and YouTube Pages. Burial with full military honors by the Washington American Legion Post #29, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, from 4 – 6 PM at the Wayland Mennonite Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Wayland Mennonite Church, Wayland Fire Department and 1st Responders, and the Washington County Fair Board for show ring improvements. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Donald Eugene Davison was born August 15, 1930, in Washington County, Iowa, the son of Charlie S. and Rhua Lucille (Mann) Davison. He attended rural school and graduated from Wayland High School in 1948. He joined the United States Army in 1951 and served until 1953. On February 15, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dorothy H. Schnicker at the Wayland Mennonite Church. Donnie was a farmer, raising crops and livestock on his farm near Wayland. He was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church, and the Wayland American Legion, and served as a 4-H leader and on the Washington County Fair Board. Donnie loved to be in the timber and enjoyed visiting with folks and telling stories.
Survivors include his sisters: Janice (Jerry) Flory and Joyce (Rodney), Letts, both of Washington, and eight nieces and nephews.
Preceding Donnie in death were his parents, his wife Dorothy in 2017, his sister Jean (Donnie) Hertig and half-sister Mildred (Charles) Thompson.
