Dorothea Ellen Cochran, 82, of Argyle, Iowa, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2022 at her home.
Born on February 16, 1940, in Mount Sterling, Iowa, the daughter of Everett Eugene and Vera Georgia (Harter) Parker. On June 15, 1958, she married Robert Francis Cochran at Hillsboro Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband: Bob of Argyle, Iowa; four children: Bonita Cass of Bonaparte, Iowa, John (Angela) Cochran of Argyle, Iowa, Mary (David) Eid of Wever, Iowa, Thomas (Vicki) Cochran of Danville, Iowa; son-in-law: Derek Helmers of LaHarpe, Illinois, grandchildren: Darin (Cassie) Cass, Kayla (Mitch) Seager, Kara Eid, Kristin (Kyle) Pauley, Breanne Helmers, Rick (Sloan) Blumer, John Helmers, Amanda (Chris) Barry, Tyler Cochran, Katrina Cochran, Daniel Fritzjunker; great grandchildren: Taylor Seager, Kylie Seager, Madilyn Cass, Wyatt Cass, Lacie Barry, Aliyana Barry, Autumn Fritzjunker and baby Pauley on the way. Also surviving are sisters: Donna Upton, Doris Onorato, Susie Kuhens and Cindy Rohdy and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Everett and Vera Parker; daughter: Dovetta Helmers; brother: Carl Allen Parker and sister: Carol L. McGinnis and nephew: Jimmy Onorato.
Dorothea was a member of Bethel Bible Church and formerly served on the Lee County Republican Committee. She and Bob enjoyed square dancing, camping and traveling. Dorothea enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, flowers, word search puzzles, cardinals and hummingbirds, comedy and western tv shows. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren, never missing their school events.
Friends may call after 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Mike Shea and Pastor Aaron Hand officiating. Following the service cremation will take place with burial being held at a later date at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
