The Iowa High School State Track Meet is underway through Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines!  Stay tuned to KILJ Radio as sports director Slaten Swords announces the results for area athletes!  Best of luck to all area area state qualifiers!

The Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis annual pancake breakfast is today and tomorrow from 6:30 to 10:15 AM at the Wright Family Pavilion in McMillan Park. In addition to unlimited pancakes & coffee they will be serving sausage patties, milk and juice. Adults can eat for $9 and Kids age 5-12 can eat for $5. NEW this year is a breakfast burrito for $6.

Free Admission and Free Parking at the Greater Iowa Swap Meet & Flea Market at McMillan Park in Mt. Pleasant today and tomorrow!  Crafts & Flea Market, Tractor, Car, and Motorcycle Parts and so much more at this two day event:  Friday, 7am – 6pm and Saturday, 7am – 3pm.

The Henry County Heritage Trust is holding a “Tag Sale – Mostly Books” from 9am to 2pm.  The Heritage Trust is located at 203 N. White Street.

The Children’s Discovery Center in Mt. Pleasant is open from 1oam – 12pm and is located next to the public library at 307 E. Monroe Street.  The Discovery Center has something for children of all ages!

The Salem Farmer’s Market will debut from 4:30pm – 7:30pm at the Salem square; the heart of downtown.  The Farmer’s Market features local, fresh produce, crafts, and more!  The Salem Farmer’s Market will be held every Friday evening through October 3rd!

Local Artist Deb Scott will be at the Oakland Mills Nature Center from 3:30pm – 5pm to demonstrate how to create fun art projects using tree bark and other natural materials.  Preregistration is appreciated and you are asked to the bring a tin can!  The Nature Center is located south of Mt. Pleasant at 2591 Nature Center Drive.

Please join us at Burge Cemetery, rural New London for the dedication of our new Veteran’s Memorial at 5:00 pm.  There will be a short program including Mayor Kirk Miller;  Burge Cemetery Board President, Jesse Howard; and Military Rites by the Henry County Honor Guard with Commander Dean King speaking.
