Players Workshop will hold open auditions for a British mystery-thriller, Murder By The Book, written by Duncan Greenwood and Robert King, on Sun., Feb. 5, and Mon., Feb. 6, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at the workshop, 1431 Grove St., Burlington. Parts are available for 3 males and 2 females, of varying ages from twenties to sixties; however, according to the director, the ages can be “fudged a little.” For more information on auditions, contact the director at 319-759-1414 or 319-753-0470.  Information is also available on PW’s Facebook page and at www.playersworkshoptheater.com.

Operation Hope Medical Missions are hosting a Valentine fundraiser. They are a surgical team based out of Mount Pleasant that travels to Honduras for a week, providing surgical care to low income families. Proceeds will go towards surgical supplies, medications and shipping expenses.
Their team will be baking Valentine’s treats that will be ready to be picked up Saturday February 11th at the Henry County Health Center parking lot. Times TBA. An event has been created on Facebook ( called Online Valentine’s Bake Sale for Operation Hope Medical Missions). This is where people can place their orders now through February 8.  Place your order by commenting under the order post.

2. 1/2 dozen red velvet cupcakes with buttercream frosting- $12
3. Dozen oreo balls- $10
4. Dozen peanut butter blossoms- $8
The Knights of Columbus Free Throw contest has been rescheduled for Sunday Feb 5th at 1 PM. It will be held at the HTC school gym in West Point. Doors open at 12:30 PM, contest starts at 1 PM.
