The Children’s Discovery Center at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library is open from 12pm – 2pm with something to discover for children of all ages!  The Discovery Center is also open on Friday and Saturday this week from 10am – noon.  The public library also has a fun and educational children’s area!

The Swedesburg Lutheran Church and the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant are rehearsing from 7pm – 9pm tonight for “Glorious Splendor: A Service of Lessons and Carols” on December 5th!  The rehearsals are held in Old Main Room 300 on Central Campus.  The concert includes The Mt. Pleasant Chorale, the SE Iowa Symphony Chamber Orchestra, and the organ stylings of Christopher Arp and Jerry Lalaga.  They will be rehearsing every Monday evening!  There will be two concerts on December 5th: 2pm at Swedesburg Lutheran Church and 6:30pm at First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant.

The Mt. Pleasant Community School District Superintendent and a few school board members will be available to visit with community members before the regularly scheduled board meeting begins. (This is something new!) The meeting is held on the second floor at Central Campus building at 5:30pm.  There is not an agenda and no action will be taken; however, this is your opportunity to bring up issues, concerns, suggestions, or celebrations and all are welcome.  The school board meeting will call to order at 6pm.

Today is Columbus Day and a Federal Holiday.  There will be no mail delivery, banks and credit unions are closed, as are federal, state, and local government offices.
