Celebrate the 24th Annual Fly Van Buren in the Villages of Van Buren from 7:00am-10:00am at the Keosauqua, Iowa Municipal Airport. The Keosauqua Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat Pancake & Sausage Breakfast starting at 7:00 am. Enjoy a delicious meal for just $8.00 with children’s meals (ages 5-10) at $4.00. Pilots who fly-in will receive a FREE breakfast! Some highlights from the event include an Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter, door prize drawings (including an airplane ride!), career opportunities through the Indian hills Aviation Department, and a coupon for those under 12 good for one free small icecream come from Misty’s Malt Shop in Keosauqua. It’s a City Wide Garage Sale in Wayland from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. today!  A list of locations can be picked up at Wayland City Hall or at the garage sales.

It’s the second annual “Cops and Bobbers Fishing Derby,” sponsored by the Burlington/West Burlington Optimist Club and the Burlington Police Department! The Derby is from 9:00am – 11:00am. at Starker Lake in Crapo Park, 2800 Madison Avenue, Burlington, Iowa.

The Children’s Discovery Center at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library is open today from 10:00am – 12:00pm!  The Discovery Center is geared toward younger children, there is something to “discover” for all ages!

At the park: Beekeeping! Find out all  about bees, such as how they make honey, from 10:00am – 12:00pm today! There will be expert beekeepers to answer all questions, and stick around to sample some honey. This is at the nature center building at 2593 Nature Center drive, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

This annual event includes over 20 local businesses offering a wide variety of made in Iowa products from raised in Lee County beef to grown in Iowa flowers and produce. VFW post 7641 in New London will be serving their annual Liver and Onions dinner from 5:00pm -7:00pm. The second entre is a 2 piece baked barbeque chicken. Dinners are served with mashed potatoes, corn, and a roll and are $8.00 each.
