Henry County will be doing road work in Salem along Jackson Street/Salem Road (J-20), east of Main Street. The road work will take approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Please use caution as the road will be open, with possible lane closures.

The Mt. Pleasant Farmer’s Market under the Wright Family Pavilion at McMillan Park features local, fresh produce, crafts, baked goods and just about something new every week.  The Farmer’s Market is open from 8:30a-11a and on Wednesday afternoons from 4p-6p. 

The Vibrant Tapestry of cultures in Southeast Iowa will be on full display at the annual TapestryFest celebration from 1:00 – 4:00 PM in Central Park, Mt. Pleasant. The event is free and open to all. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

  • Calle Sur – a joyful mix of acoustic flavors from Latin America featuring: Karin Stein (Colombian) and Edgar East (Panamanian)
  • Musical and dance performances representing diverse cultures
  • International food vendors with delicious snacks and dishes
  • Interactive exhibits showcasing customs and traditions
  • Children’s activities
  • Cultures showcased from our community: African American, Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Philippines, Sweden, Ukraine, and Venezuela

Henry County Heritage Trust presents Voices from the Past with presentations every 15 minutes starting at 2pm.  The Henry County Heritage Trust Museum is at 402 W. Madison St. and you are welcome to tour the museum! 319-217-6042

The New London VFW Post 7641 is serving dinner tonight from 5pm-7pm for just $12!  Choose between a Ham Steak meal or Ribeye Steak meal including a baked potato, salad, and roll!

The Lee County Fair Grounds in Donnellson is in full swing with the Kid’s Power Wheel Derby at 6:30pm, the  Demolition Derby tonight at 7pm followed by music with “The Boys”!  Here is a list of today’s activities:

The Van Buren County Fair – Highway 1 in Keosauqua – starts Fair Week with the Van Buren County Fair Queen and Junior Miss chosen on at 6:30pm in the Fair View Barn. Royalty will be crowned to represent the Van Buren County Fair- July 13-21st with a Barn Dance on Thursday night and a Rodeo on Friday night!

The Washington County Fair at the Fair Grounds in Washington kicks off Fair Week with an Exclusive Free Concert tonight featuring “Aces & Eights” Rock & Country from 7pm – 10pm and concessions will be available.
