Players Workshop will hold open auditions for the upcoming musical comedy Sister Act on July 23-24 at 7:00 p.m., at the Workshop (1431 Grove St., Burlington).  Parts are available for 7 males, 9 females, plus an ensemble, all ages late teen and up.  No special preparations are needed to audition. VFW Post 7641in New London is serving ribeye or ham steak from 5-7 pm. Ribeyes are $18 and ham is $10. Dinners come with salad, baked potato and roll.

The Winfield Area Grateful Gathering (WAGG) event this weekend, Saturday, July 22nd at 6:30 p.m., will feature a local farmer, Craig Grothe, at  the Winfield Open Bible Activity center, located across from Casey’s on North Locust.  Craig has entertained at conventions, and conferences with a humorous, motivational message.  He gives people the opportunity to laugh, and helps them remember the difference they  can make in life, just by being themselves.  Come and enjoy his  message and have fellowship with others. Refreshments will also be served.  An offering will be taken for future WAGG events.

The Mount Pleasant City Compost site is open every Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm and on Wednesday from 1 to 6 pm. The site is located at the intersection of Hoaglin Drive and Yocum Lane.

Henry County Heritage Trust presents ‘Our Grandpas Rode the Orphan Train’ by Joan Morgan & Pat White beginning at 2 p.m. in the Henry County Heritage Center Museum, 403 West Madison Street in Mount Pleasant. Joan will share the history of the orphan train movement and her grandpa’s story. Pat will give some local orphan train history and her grandpa’s story. Refreshments provided. Questions? The Dover Museum, chapel and depot in New London are open everyone Saturday and Sunday thru October from 1 to 4 pm.

The Henry County Heritage Museum at 403 W. Monroe in Mount Pleasant is open on Saturdays from 1-4 pm.

The Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market is in McMillan Park under Wright Pavilion from 8:30 to 11 am.
