The Mount Pleasant Library’s Discovery Center is open today from 10 a.m. to noon.

Des Moines County Conservation invites families to come together and participate in an “All About Monarchs” butterfly program 10:00am – noon at the Hickory Shelter of Big Hollow Recreation Area.  This program offers the unique opportunity to tag Monarch Butterflies.  Nets will be provided, please dress for the weather and in the event of any program changes, visit the Starr’s Cave Nature Center Facebook page or call 319-753-5808.

Pioneer Cemetery Day is beginning at 2 p.m. at the Henry County Museum, 403 East Madison Street. Hosted by the Henry County Pioneer Cemetery Commission. If you have any questions please direct them to 319-385-4983.

It’s the Marching Band Invitational at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex. The top high school marching bands will be coming to participate in a field show competition with the Mt. Pleasant Middle School and High School Marching Bands performing in exhibition. Good food at reasonable prices will be available throughout the event. The contest is sponsored by the Music Boosters, who support the K-12 music program. The music begins at 5 pm.
